Today’s world can be isolating. Whether you call it a tribe, a family of choice, or just a group of good people helping good people. Therapeutic Groups are a great way to connect.

What is Group Therapy?

Group therapy is a form of therapy where a small group of individuals meet together with one or more trained therapists to explore specific themes, learn new skills, and support one another in a safe and structured environment. It can be a powerful way to gain insight, practice new behaviors, and feel less alone in your experiences

Group Therapy FAQs

While individual therapy focuses on one-on-one work with your therapist, group therapy offers the opportunity to learn from others, receive feedback, and connect with peers who may share similar struggles or goals. It’s a collaborative space where healing happens through shared experience, community, and guided interaction.

We offer a variety of groups designed to meet different needs and goals. Our current offerings include:

  • Creative arts-based groups focused on identity and self-expression
  • Trauma-informed groups for skill-building and emotional regulation
  • Therapeutic roleplaying groups that combine storytelling with personal growth

Most of our groups are open to current clients and individuals who are engaged in or have completed individual therapy. Some groups are better suited for those actively preparing for or transitioning out of trauma-focused work. If you're not sure whether a group is a good fit, your therapist can help guide you.

Groups are generally offered on a quarterly basis, with new sessions beginning throughout the year. Because space is limited, we recommend speaking with your therapist early if you're interested in joining a group.

If you're interested in participating in a group, the best first step is to talk with your current therapist or clinician. They can help determine which group is the best fit for your goals and walk you through the next steps for registration. If you are not currently in therapy with us, feel free to contact us for more information.

Each group has a unique structure based on its focus, but you can generally expect:

  • A supportive, confidential environment
  • Ground rules that promote respect, safety, and inclusivity
  • Opportunities for sharing, reflection, and practicing new skills
  • Activities or exercises relevant to the group’s theme
  • A licensed therapist guiding the process with care and intention

While participation is encouraged, you’re always in control of what you choose to share. Many people find that they become more comfortable opening up over time. The group leader will help create a space where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported.

Group therapy may be covered by insurance, just like individual therapy. Coverage can vary depending on your plan, so we recommend checking with your provider or speaking with our administrative team to understand your benefits.
