Abby Whitman

My name is Abby (they/she) and I am one of the clinical mental health counseling interns at Journey. My background is as a music therapist and graduate student in counseling with a specialization in expressive arts therapy. Expressive arts therapy is the use of any art form as a method to meet therapeutic goals. In my practice, I want to create a safe space for expression using the arts as a method toward healing. Songwriting, musical improvisation, art making, creative writing, and movement are some of my favorite ways to use the arts in sessions. I have experience working with older adults, young adults, and adolescents.

I enjoy spending time with my partner, family, and friends, and I love animals. My family has a big garden we spend much of our time tending to. I also like to read, watch movies, go on road trips, and try coffee with my partner.
