Journey to a Trauma Informed Life

Courageous Kids

Courageous Kids is a program for children ages 7-15 living with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)and other anxiety disorders. Through Courageous Kids, children will meet new friends while learning skills to challenge their OCD and anxiety. Our goal is to educate and empower children and their families to live full, engaged, and courageous lives.

Our mission is to provide a space for children living with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and other anxiety disorders to live fuller lives. We will provide a space for children to gain practical knowledge to understand their mental health needs and learn skills to face their fears in a fun and supportive environment.

Meet the staff behind Courageous Kids:

Brianna Morrow is a licensed social worker experienced in working with children living with OCD and other anxiety disorders. She believes in using a strengths-based approach, incorporating evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and play therapy. She is here to help build on your child’s unique strengths and skill sets to help find solutions to challenges currently being faced.

Dr. Andy Pitrone has learned to live courageously with OCD while thriving as an elementary school teacher in the Union City School District.  Andy uses Exposure and Response Prevention strategies to challenge his own OCD mind and embrace contamination and uncertainty.  He has been a trusted classroom teacher and family advocate for over 20 years.

Courageous Kids Summer Blast!

Courageous Kids Summer Blast will provide children with a fun and supportive environment to gain and practice skills to improve their symptoms associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and other anxiety disorders.  The professional staff will implement play and art based activities and interventions rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP).  Camp Co-Directors will facilitate both large and small group sessions designed to scaffold the mind-body connections our campers made with strategies intended to help children understand their fears, harness their strengths, and effectively communicate their needs. The camp’s programming will also include psychoeducation for the children and their families, as well as sessions for caregivers, providing them with tools to successfully support and coach their children.

Our first annual summer camp is July 18th-21st. If you are interested in the 2023 Summer Blast please click 0n the link below.
